Wanchai Pongsakul
Bangkok, collector
I brought in a 1960s dress watch that I had been reluctant to send anywhere. The assessment note they produced was more thorough than anything I had seen — specific observations on the movement condition, the state of the mainspring, and a clear recommendation. I ended up booking the full restoration. Three months later it came back with a bound report and photographs of every stage. Worth every baht.

Nattaporn Saengthong
Bangkok, daily wearer
My diver had not been properly serviced in about six years, and the crown had started to feel loose. They did the full service with water-resistance renewal, gave me a service log with the pressure test reading, and the whole thing took just under three weeks. The timing result before versus after was quite striking. I appreciated that they showed me the before reading — most places just hand it back and say it is done.

James Hutchinson
Expat resident, Bangkok
Used the condition assessment service before deciding whether to have a secondhand purchase properly serviced. The written note they produced settled the question — the movement was in reasonable shape, the mainspring was original, and the recommendation was to leave well alone for another year or two. That kind of straightforwardness is not common. The assessment itself took about four days.

Siriporn Kaewrat
Chiang Mai, collector
Sent a 1970s dress piece from Chiang Mai by registered post after emailing ahead and getting a clear intake procedure. Communication throughout was steady — I was updated at each stage of the restoration before they moved forward. The dial and hands were not touched, which was exactly what I had asked for. The archive report is genuinely well put together and will stay with the watch.

Marcus Böhm
Short-stay visitor, Bangkok
I had a week in Bangkok and my everyday automatic had been losing about 30 seconds a day. I contacted Escapement, they fit me in for an assessment during my visit, and the watch came back four days later regulated to within a few seconds. I was not expecting a written note with it, but that was a pleasant detail. Clear pricing, no pressure to do more than what was needed.

Ananya Techawong
Bangkok, inheritor
I inherited a watch from my grandfather and wanted it serviced without ruining what made it feel like his. The team here understood that immediately. They went through the scope with me carefully before touching anything, explained which parts were still original and which might need replacing eventually, and ultimately did a clean service leaving the case finish as it was. The service log has already been useful when the watch came up in conversation with an insurer.

CASE STUDIES
Two pieces, from intake to collection.
CASE 01 — ARCHIVE RESTORATION
A 1960s Swiss dress watch with unknown service history.
SITUATION
A Bangkok collector brought in a 1966 Swiss dress watch acquired at estate sale. The movement had never been documented and showed signs of previous amateur attention — incorrect oil applied to the keyless works and one replaced jewel of the wrong grade. The dial was original and in good condition.
APPROACH
A condition assessment was carried out first, producing a full written inventory of the movement's state. The client then approved a staged archive-grade restoration. The incorrect jewel was sourced in the correct specification from a parts supplier. The dial was cleaned by hand and not refinished. Each stage was photographed and the client updated before proceeding.
OUTCOME
The movement was returned to proper specification and regulated to within ±8 seconds per day across five positions. The bound archive report documented all findings, parts decisions, and photographs. The client reported the insurer accepted the report as supporting documentation for the watch's value. Total time from intake: 11 weeks.
"The report answered questions I had not thought to ask. I now know more about this watch than I expected to."
CASE 02 — STANDARD SERVICE
A diver serviced after six years of active daily wear.
SITUATION
A Bangkok resident brought in a 200m dive watch worn daily for six years without a service. The crown action had become stiff, the movement was running approximately 25 seconds fast per day, and the client was uncertain about the current water resistance status.
APPROACH
Full movement service with disassembly, ultrasonic cleaning, and fresh oils. All three gasket sets replaced — crown, caseback, and crystal. Pressure tested to the watch's rated specification. Movement regulated on timegrapher, timing measured in six positions.
OUTCOME
Movement regulated to an average of +4 seconds per day across six positions, compared to +25 before service. Pressure test confirmed to rated specification. Service log produced with pre- and post-service timing readings, gasket specification, and test result. Completed in 16 days from intake.
"Seeing the before and after timing figures side by side made it clear the service had been worth doing. I will not leave it six years next time."
